Family Respite Care of Nevada (FRC), originally founded in 1995 as the Northern Nevada RAVE Family Foundation, is celebrating 30 years of service to Nevada families. As Nevada’s largest center-based respite care provider, FRC supports children, teens, and young adults with disabilities, special healthcare needs, and those in foster and adoptive families, from 3 months to 28 years of age. Over the past three decades, FRC has provided more than 300,000 hours of respite care, giving caregivers the invaluable Gift of Time.

FRC’s highly trained respite professionals are background checked and certified in CPR, First Aid, mandated reporting, trauma-informed care, developmental disabilities, and behavior management. Many team members hold degrees in family and child development, social work, education, and related fields. Through its group-based model, children build friendships, develop independence, strengthen social skills, and experience a sense of belonging in a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment. The organization’s impact is measurable: 90% of families report reduced caregiver stress, and families remain engaged with FRC for an average of more than five years.

The Nell J. Redfield Foundation’s generous support of FRC’s Respite Care Assistance Program helps cover the significant costs associated with providing high-quality respite care, reducing financial barriers that might otherwise prevent families from accessing services. This work is only possible through the generosity of partners like the Nell J. Redfield Foundation, whose investment allows FRC to continue growing and meeting the increasing demand for respite care. With 12 consecutive months of enrollment growth, this support helps ensure that more children and families can access the services they need while strengthening FRC’s capacity to serve Nevada families for years to come.
